Not exactly helpful :)

Another weekend, another list of things to do. Hoping to get ahead on our chores (and while Mike is out on lake patrol this morning), I did my motherly duties, including changing Aiden's sheets. I placed his entire basket of dirty laundry out in the hallway and stepped back in his room to empty the diaper pail. As I made it back out into the hallway, I was greeted with this sight:

Not exactly helpful, but pretty darn cute. :)

Another weekend means a lot of stuff to do, and today is no exception; Mike is patrolling with the Coast Guard Auxillary for a good part of the day, while Aiden & I are headed to a pool party with Lawrene, Quentin, Angie & Rachel. This evening, I've got a bachelorette party. Here we go...

It's official: He's a leprechaun.

Aiden, that is. My little squirt of a son. With his birthday so close to St. Patty's Day, and with those elven ears, I've often described him to folks as a leprechaun. And after his 15-month check-up today, it seems I'm not that far off in my description! Aiden came in at a whopping 19 lb 7 oz (still below 3%), just a bit short of that elusive 20 lb mark. After discussing his much-improved eating habits, as well as his developmental achievements, Dr. Brown seemed very satisfied. "He's on his own little growth curve, but he's happy and completely healthy," he said. That was enough to calm my nerves. He also expects Aiden to be around 23 to 24 lb at two years old. I guess we'll just have to wait and see on that.
Before this morning's appointment, Aiden decided he was going to get on my bad side. It was pretty much my fault, but that's beside the point. I was getting ready in the bathroom and heard him yelling the next room. I went out in the kitchen to get him some juice, and by the time I returned to the living room, he was gone. I did, however, hear the distinct sound of splashing. My worst fear was confirmed as I made it to the bathroom door to discover him smiling joyously as he splashed the water in the toilet bowl. How. Gross. I was able to extract my "revenge," however, by taking him to his check-up, where he received some more vaccinations :)

A First Birthday and Father's Day

Summer has officially begun, and our busy weekends continue! Yesterday, we had the honor of attending my "future daughter-in-law's" first birthday party (I don't know how much longer Angie's going to let me keep saying that, but I'm telling you, it's written in the stars!). We had been kind of concerned during the week about the weather forecast, but lucky for us the storms ended in the early hours of the morning, and so party time was sunny and warm, but with enough of a wind to keep it bearable. Miss Rachel was an absolute doll, as usual--check out what a cutie she is! Unfortunately, Aiden was in weekend mode (read: no nap), so Mike & I had a little crabbiness to deal with, but not too bad. He did, however, make me quite happy with how much he attempted (and succeeded!) to walk, so I definitely call that a win. Angie did a great job with the Blue's Clues theme, and once again made some of her beautiful cakes, which Rachel had no problem diving right into. We're happy to welcome her to the One Year Club. :)
Today, we had the honor of holding a Father's Day cook out at our house, celebrating with my folks, Mike's folks, and my younger sister & brother. What a great day! We had some yummy food, including hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cucumber salad, chips & dips, baked beans, and a chocolate cake--the whole spread. The weather was pretty steamy, but again, there was enough of a breeze to keep outdoor activities bearable. We played corn hole & badmiton, and the heat required that we get some sort of bucket of water out for Aiden to play in. I think he appreciated it. :)
I do, however, want to take this opportunity to thank Mike for all that he has done and will do as Aiden's father--I couldn't ask for a better partner on this crazy journey of ours. I love you, honey!

Summer's Nearly Here...

...and that means some pretty loaded weekends. For example, today alone, I had both a bridal shower and a retirement party to attend. I had a great time at both! Broken record here, but again the weather was GORGEOUS :) I'm hoping that's the same thing I'm saying next weekend, too, since we've got both Rachel's first birthday party and a father's day cookout at our house scheduled. Other than these busy weekends, life is pretty normal. Feel free to check out a new video below, complete with the "mad face" and a little independence shining through :)

A Nice Weekend

We had a nice weekend--I'm starting to feel spoiled by all the nice weather! Seriously, it only seems to rain during the week, and we get warm, sunny weekends. I love it. :) Anyways, on Saturday Mike & I celebrated our anniversary by going to Cameron's. We were a bit disappointed in the food (just A BIT pricey for what we got), but since we had a gift card, we didn't feel too bad. Then yesterday we headed up to Mansfield and just had a nice, relaxing afternoon. Afterwards, we came home, and I got this little gem of Mike & Aiden playing on the couch. Please excuse the shoot-'em-up sounds in the background as that just happened to be where Mike stopped his channel-surfing when the giggle-fest ensued. :)
