Monthly Mumbles (October Edition)

10. First of all, I’m sending every good vibe I have to those in New York and the areas directly impacted by Sandy. Watching the coverage on TV…I just can’t imagine. My sister lost a tree in her backyard, and doesn’t have power, but luckily everyone is safe. What a storm.

9. Had an OB checkup this morning, and let’s just say it wasn’t my favorite so far. High blood pressure (that thankfully went back down) and my belly measuring behind were NOT things I wanted to hear. So I have an additional ultrasound next week just to make sure things are going well, but I’m a bit nervous, especially since low fluid with Aiden forced me to deliver him 10 days early. Obviously I want what’s best for Justin, but cross your fingers for me that this munchkin is a December baby…

8. Given the situation above, I have GOT to get my butt in gear & get ready for this kid. I’ve almost gotten the newborn laundry completed, but I still have Nolan in Justin’s room. Not good. And time might be running out sooner than I previously thought.

7. I had a definite mom FAIL today; Aiden’s preschool Halloween celebration was this morning, and the parade to show off all the kids’ costumes was at 9:30—which was exactly when my OB appointment was scheduled. WAH-WAH-WAAAAAAAAH. I really wanted to see him as the world’s skinniest OSU football player, too. Curses.

6. Trick-or-treat should be just AWESOME tomorrow, with the forecast calling for rain, wind, and 30-degree temperatures. Where is the 80-degree sunshine from last week? That’s Ohio for you…

5. My Buckeyes are undefeated nine games into the season and have a legitimate chance to go 12-0. We’ve had some close calls, and our season officially ends the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but the success has me salivating for next fall already.

4. Made it up north this past weekend to watch two of my sisters and my brother-in-law perform in concert. Heidi & Joel are trained opera singers, and though Abby isn’t trained, she’s pretty darned good herself. It was a beautiful event. As an encore, though, Heidi & Joel sang “Reqiuem,” and OHMYGOD the waterworks started before they even sang a note. My mom loved that song, and they sang it beautifully. I was very close to UGLY crying. I miss her so, so much.

3. I try my best not to get political on here (and most of you who know me in real life are acutely aware of the party I align with), but let me just tell you--living in a swing state SUCKS. I have so much built-up election fatigue it’s not even funny. I can’t watch five minutes of TV or listen to a song or two on the radio without being bombarded by political ads. And my mailbox is STUFFED with propaganda (5 fliers from the Republicans yesterday alone!) every day. So for someone who sent her absentee ballot off nearly a month ago (there is no way I’m dragging 2½ kids with me to the polls next week), it’s just nauseating. Thankfully, the end is near…

2.  Happy that it’s Tuesday and there’s a new episode of NCIS tonight. It’s the little things.

1. Just one more plea for crossed fingers. Like I said, I’m cool with whatever is healthiest for Justin, but I’d rather he bakes for another few weeks. Thanks for your help :)

Nolan is TWO!!!

Boy, am I late on this post (at least by my standards). And I've got plenty of excuses: late-term pregnancy, single-mom hours, general exhaustion, yada yada yada...but I don't really like those excuses. So on with it...

My little Monkey turned two last week.

Both Mike & I had a three-day weekend to help him celebrate, so we took both boys up to Mansfield that Friday to enjoy some fun in a hay barn. Too bad this mama deleted all these photos from her memory card before she downloaded them. FAIL. Saturday was then spent mostly in party-prep mode, and Sunday was the Big Boy's party--Halloween-themed, of course, so all the kiddos could get an extra chance to wear their costumes. We all enjoyed beautiful weather, yummy eats, and good times. :)

I'm not gonna post too many photos (most of you have seen these on Facebook anyway), but here are a few of my favorites from the birthday weekend...

Enjoying a cupcake on his actual birthday.

Opening gifts with Mom. He did NOT want to sit still, as usual.

CHEESE! before digging in to cake :)

Bumpdate: Seven Months

How Far Along: Seven months!!!

Total Weight Gain: Maybe around 12ish lbs.

Size of Baby: According to Babycenter, approximately 3.3 lbs.

Maternity Clothes: Well, yeah (duh). I actually was lucky enough to have a friend let me look through her stash of clothes last week to help me get through these last few months without buying anything new!

Gender: He’s still insisting on being a boy. J

Movement: Still alternating between all or nothing. As an example: last Saturday, during tailgating and the actual Ohio State game, he didn’t budge. Like, AT ALL. And I was getting a bit nervous. But on Sunday, he let me have it ALL DAY. Can’t figure out of that means he had a good or bad time rootin’ for the Buckeyes in person…

Sleep: Still not much of a problem, but I do anticipate changes in this department soon. My bladder seems to finally be to shrinking a bit.

What I Miss: Beer. Fitting into normal clothes. Undoing the emergency brake on my car without feeling like I’m squishing the little guy. Getting out of chairs without having to count to three. You know, normal stuff.

Cravings: Pumpkin Chai Lattes at Starbucks. But I attribute that more to the season than this pregnancy. J

Other Crazy Symptoms:  Nothing odd enough to mention here. I think since this is my third go around, even the weird stuff seems normal!

Best Moment This Month: Let’s see—getting to the seven-month milestone is pretty good, right? Only 8 weeks until we meet Justin face-to-face…

My Week (46) in Instagram

Short on photos this week, but I think I got some decent ones--even if NONE include the kiddos!!!

Monday 10/1/12: Best month of the year. No arguments.
Monday 10/1/12: Straight hair in honor of my mom,
and glasses because I got an infection in my right eye...

Friday 10/5/12: Our tickets for the game--which may I tell you were 3 rows from
the VERY top. YIKES. I stopped freaking out sometime in the first quarter...

Friday 10/5/12: How did I spend my Friday evening? Oh, you know--watchin' folks
drink wine, taking oddly-posed photos with Buckeye legend Archie Griffin...typical. :)

Saturday 10/6/12: Poor Abby had to be my date two nights in a row.
As you can see, she's completely broken up about it.

10/6/12: In addition to witnessing an awesome Buckeye win, we were treated
to the spectacle that is Script Ohio. NOTHING. BETTER.

Four Months

"Moms are guardian angels to us while they are on this earth, and when they go to heaven, they have that much more power to watch over us."     --Unknown

It's been four months, Mom. Miss you more everyday. :(
