Monthly Mumbles, November Edition

10. I’m supposed to have a baby in 10 days (unless he wants to come sooner!). Let me say that another way--we are adding a third child to our household IN TEN DAYS. And let me tell you, I’M READY. With Aiden & Nolan, the last two weeks always seemed the hardest, and this is no exception. I think Justin is just as done with his cramped quarters as I am with housing him. Almost time to greet the world.
9. Saturday will mark six months without my mom. I hate this sh*t. L
8. My last platelet count came back the lowest it’s been in any of my pregnancies, so I had to have a consultation with the fetal/maternal department at our hospital. They decided I should take steroids for 10 days (no harm to Justin, of course), and then get another big dose right before surgery. So that’s the plan. To be purely selfish, I'm asking you to please send good thoughts. It’s really not in my plans to be paralyzed from the waist down if I get a clot in my spine.
7. How about those Buckeyes? 12 and O-H, baby. Didn’t seem likely a year ago, and now it’s in the books. Always good to beat M*ch*g*an—the world feels right again. And OH, the possibilities for next season…
6. Nothing makes my heart melt faster lately than hearing Nolan say “Sowwy, Mommy!” No worries, Child—whatever you did is forgiven when you come at me with that munchkin voice and your pudgy arms open for a hug.
5. The Christmas tree & decorations are up, most of my shopping list is complete, and I’ve only got some wrapping & baking left to do. And it’s not December yet. Of course, I’m gonna have a bit more on my plate next month than just the holidays, so I’m proud to be in the position I’m in.
4. Aiden’s preschool Christmas program is the day after I have Justin, so I’ll still be in the hospital and won’t be able to attend. Mom guilt SUCKS.
3. I have no earthly idea what to get Mike for Christmas this year. Shouldn’t a third son be enough? But he works so hard, and I don’t want to cop out…
2. Thinking of getting away from Verizon when our contract is up in March. Taking suggestions on which carrier to go with—and, GO!
1. Reading over numbers 2-10, I feel like all I did in this post is complain. Let me be firm, though—I AM EXCITED to meet the newest member of our family in just over a week! But the planner in me needs to have all my ducks in a row, and there are some extenuating circumstances in certain areas of our lives right now that are preventing that from happening. Deep breathes. Keep calm & carry on. Yeah, all that BS.

My Week (47) in Instagram

Yeah, I know, I took another hiatus. But you really wouldn't have enjoyed looking at just one photo each in those non-existant posts. Seriously. I had a few weeks there where apparently it was too difficult to whip out my phone. I think I got enough this week to warrant a post, though, so on with it...

Saturday 11/10/12: It was 72 degrees in November--in OHIO. Of course we went to the park!

Saturday 11/10/12: Oh Captain, my Captain...

Saturday 11/10/12: He looks SO OLD to me lately. That's only gonna get worse once No. 3 emerges...

Wednesday 11/14/12: Wednesdays are always good days to swashbuckle at work.

Thursday 11/15/12: An early Christmas gift. HOW I LOVE THEE...

Friday 11/16/12: Missing my mom on what would have been her & Dad's 38th wedding anniversary...

Saturday 11/17/12: Another beautiful cake creation by Angie for my (Non-) Baby Shower :)

Bumpdate: Eight Months

How Far Along: Eight months! And since I'm not going to make it to nine months, this is likely my last update. Next time I'll have a baby to introduce to you!

Total Weight Gain: Pleading the fifth. :)

Size of Baby: According to Babycenter, approximately 5 1/2 to 6 lbs.

Maternity Clothes: Yup. And some of my husband's PJs. SO. COMFY.

Gender: Boy. Boy, oh boy, oh boy...

Movement: ALL THE TIME. And I know this is good and it's what I want, but HOLY COW does he make it known if he doesn't approve the position in which I'm sitting. He was really giving me fits in a quick trip to Target Saturday, too--I almost had to leave.

Sleep: All issues recently are not directly his fault; we moved Aiden & Nolan into the same room together (during the time change, mind you), so that's that been a TREAT. Otherwise, this guy seems to sleep when I sleep. Hope that's a trend.

What I Miss: Beer. Unswollen ankles. Breathing normally. Putting on socks without Mike's help. Being the only person living in my body. You get it.

Cravings: Egg Nog milkshakes from Steak & Shake. And my mom's poppyseed bread.

Other Crazy Symptoms:  Well, there are some, AHEM, embarrassing issues that have popped up lately, but it's not blog friendly. And these Braxton Hicks contractions (which I did NOT have with the first two) are really annoying. Just know I mean what I say above when I mention I'd like to be the only one living in my body again...

Best Moment This Month: Getting two ultrasounds--one for fun, and one to make sure he's growing at a good rate since I was measuring small (no worries, we're both good).

Here's a snapshot from our 3D ultrasound session that Mike got me as a birthday present. CANNOT WAIT to pinch those cheeks. Just over three weeks to go...

Well lookie here...

I haven't been asked to participate in one of these in awhile! A big thanks to Sarah at A Buckeye in Badgerland for nominating me. You can probably tell just by the name of her blog that we have something big in common. :) And as she said, who doesn't like the opportunity to talk about themselves? :)

{11 Facts}

1. If you told me 10--or even 5--years ago that I would one day be the mom to three little boys, I would have called bullsh*t. Four weeks until I give birth to my third, and I'm still trying to process it. I'm sooooooooooo beyond lucky.

2. Being a fan of Cleveland sports teams gives you more character than you could ever imagine. I've been "waiting until next year" since I was born, but I'm never give up on them.

3. I spent 10 months living alone in Indiana about a year after I graduated college. Obviously, by the short tenure, I was not impressed (sorry to all you Hoosiers--that state is just not for me).

4. As the third of five kids, I have a bit of a middle-child complex. It's an ongoing battle. I try to keep it in check.

5. I think this commercial is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. If that gives away my sense of humor, so be it.

6. Most nights, I'm really excited for my kids to go to bed so I can finally relax on the couch with my husband--but five minutes after I've sat down, I miss them like crazy. It's such a strange paradox.

7. Every time I drive through the OSU campus, I wish I could go back to college. Well, as long as I didn't have to go back to class, obviously. :)

8. I L-O-V-E the feeling of someone running their hands through my hair. Luckily, my four-year-old does this absentmindedly if we're watching TV together.

9. I am counting down the days until we can put up our Christmas decorations. I REFUSE to do it before Thanksgiving, but you can bet your bippy I'll be decking the halls while all the other schmucks are waiting in line for Black Friday sales...

10. I CANNOT WAIT TO HAVE A BEER. Nine months is sooooooooo long. Almost there...

11. I aspire to be a better blogger. I know my posting will pick up once I'm home with the newest munchkin, but right now, between my full-time job & taking care of the kiddos in the evening, there's just not enough time OR motivation in the day...

{Questions from Sarah}

1. What's your favorite dessert? Anything with coconut, chocolate, peanut butter, or hey, how about all three?!

2. What did you think about the ending to Lost? You know, I only watched the first season and the last season consistently, but I cried during the entire finale. I thought it was great :)

3. What's your favorite talk show? Is it a bad thing that I don't watch them? Not even on maternity leave. I'm the crazy mom with a newborn who's watching "A Baby Story" and crying everything the kid is born.

4. Tell me a joke. Oh, honey, I wish I could, but the only ones I can remember are the ones my husband tells, and, well...they're not exactly appropriate for this venue. :)

5.  What is something you believe in? Karma. Better mind yourself, just sayin'.

6. What is something you don't believe in? Ugh, this seems sooooooo loaded...how about fairies? Yeah, I think I'll go with fairies...

7. Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts? (Or some other coffee chain?) Starbucks, hands down. But I only drink the chai lattes. I can't stand coffee; I don't understand how something can smell so good & taste so awful.

8. Do you wear leggings as pants? Wish I were that brave. Maybe after I have this kid & get rid of some extra weight. I've seen some really cute stuff on Pinterest that I think I could pull off, but at this moment in time...no.

9. What would you eat as your last meal? Piada. Next time you're in Cbus, YOU MUST GO.

10. What is something you are obsessed with? NCIS. It's a ridiculous obsession, I totally admit that. But to me, the show is like a warm blanket--it's familiar & comfortable, and you know pretty much exactly what you're going to get. Plus, Michael Weatherly? YUMMO.

11. Do you have a loyalty to a certain brand? (Kraft mac n cheese, Folgers coffee, Charmin toilet paper, etc.) Target. I would rather drive further and pay a bit more than go to WalMart.
