I met my husband on Yahoo Personals.
{chuckle, chuckle}
I'm always amused at the response to that statement. Some folks go wide-eyed and exclaim, "Really?!" while others kinda give me a once over with eyebrows raised. Oh well. I suppose, had I not experienced this love story myself, that I may have similar reactions to someone else telling me the same thing.
Truth be told, I had just decided to take a break from dating when Mike "winked" at me one December Thursday. I was at work, and I was looking at his profile (briefly on my lunch, mind you), and I had to call my future best buddy Angie over from her cubicle to help me decide if the fact that his photos showed him at a Cincinnati Reds game meant that he was indeed a Reds fan, because that was a deal breaker (GO TRIBE!). We couldn't decide, and so what the hey, I emailed him back.
Several emails, a few interesting phone calls (there was a story about how he ended up in the ER with painted toenails), and one first-date-cancelling snowstorm later, we finally met. My first impression? He had some serious sideburns. But I got past it, and off we went to dinner and a movie (Napoleon Dynamite, DEFINITELY one of my all-time favs). The thing I took away from the date was how easy it was to just talk to him, and how comfortable the whole evening felt. He must have been feeling it, too, because we ended up seeing each other 4 out of the next 5 days.

Five months later, we were engaged. :)
Thirteen months later, we were married. :)
Eight months later, we found out we were pregnant. :)
Two weeks later, we suffered a miscarriage. :(
Four months later, we found out we were once again pregnant. :)
Nine months later, our beautiful Aiden arrived. I believe he was specifically put on the Earth to teach us patience, because OH BOY were we not prepared to be parents. This stuff is HARD, but ridiculously fun, too.
And apparently, the fun outweighed the difficulty, because just before Aiden's second birthday, we found out we were once again pregnant.
Nine months later, our darling Nolan arrived. He started out as The World's Easiest Baby, but has proven to be a bit more of a challenge than his brother ever since he turned one.
Which is kind of funny, since we decided to try this all again, and found out in April of 2012 that we were expecting again...
...and nine months later, our third little man Justin arrived. He's been pretty low-maintenance so far, and we couldn't be happier to welcome him to our family of men :)
So that's our story up to this point. We're still exploring and experimenting with what it means to be a family, and everyday brings new challenges and rewards.
I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Thank God for Yahoo Personals. :)
