Some of you out there may not be familiar with my mom's "grandma" name. Originally when my nephew Gary was born, she was asking to be called Granny as opposed to Grandma. Unfortunately for her, Gary named her PooPoo, and it's stuck--she even signed "From PooPoo" on the OSU baby quilt she made for Aiden. Fun back story--I never get tired of telling it!
We try to make sure we visit with my folks at least every two weeks, and so today was our bi-weekly trip to Lexington. We had hamburgers on the grill as well as lots of fresh vegetables, and we even topped the meal off with homemade strawberry shortcake. Aiden never tires of seeing his PooPoo & PaPa!

Update!
They just accepted our offer--looks like WE JUST BOUGHT OUR FIRST HOUSE!!!
More details later...

Waiting
Mike & I officially began our house-hunt last week--and we've already put an offer in on a house! I know that seems like we're moving a bit quickly, but we've actually known about this home for awhile. We've had two walk-throughs, one which Mike's uncle (who used to build houses) accompanied us on and assured us that making an offer would be a wise decisions. So there have been some counter-offers back and forth, and now we're just waiting on their final decision. We REALLY like the house, but we're not going to get our hopes up too high because we just started looking and there are plenty of available houses out there. :)
In the mean time, I thought I'd share some pictures; the first one is from last weekend when Mimi & I came home to find Aiden watching westerns with Daddy & Grandpa. Then this morning, I set our quite rambunctious little guy in his Johnny Jump Up and got the other photo. I think he's getting ready to start teething, at least judging by the loads of slobber and constant gumming, so we're preparing ourselves for that adventure. Have a Happy Saturday!

And the Star-Crossed Lovers Meet! :)
On Tuesday, I took Aiden with me to visit Duane, Angie, and Miss Rachel in the hospital. I was a little disappointed at first because it looked like Aiden was going to sleep through his entire first meeting with his future bride! Luckily, though, we were close to feeding time, and so we got to snap a few pictures before I had to prepare a bottle.
The Woods--all three of them!--got to go home on Wednesday, and they are in the wonderful adjustment period, as Mike & I so lovingly refer to it. I hope to have more pictures after Aiden & visit again next Tuesday.

First Day of Summer Cookout
Mimi had some of her work friends over last night for an "At-Home Happy Hour." We ended up having steaks on the grill (DELICIOUS) and baked potatoes and salad. It was a feast! We even broke out Aiden's OSU stroller, which actually turned out to be quite comfortable for him as you can see in the photo. It was a nice, relaxing evening!

New Mom Humor
Found this cute list of 71 New Mom Truths and thought I'd share a few of my favorites:
3. You will lose tiny socks in the wash.
8. You will wonder whether it's possible to get all the crud out of your baby's skin folds.
9. You will laugh at your OB when she asks what you plan on using for birth control at your six-week postpartum checkup.
18. You will forget all about your difficult day with your baby when you finally see him sleeping peacefully at night.
34. You will need to leave the house and have your husband stay home if and when you let the baby cry it out for the first time.
50. You will be sad to put away what he's grown out of.
60. You will accept that your husband will never be as paranoid about the baby as you are, and will decide that's a good thing.

Mike's First Father's Day
Mike's first Father's Day was a memorable one--mostly because it was his first! Aiden picked out this cute onesie to wear (if you can't see the photo well, it says "COOL JUST LIKE DADDY"). He also repeated what he did on Mother's Day and "signed" Daddy's card with his handprint (which is A LOT harder than you would think). I gave Mike a picture of him & Aiden for his desk; the frame says "I Love Daddy." I only wish I was better company today; unfortunately, I caught Aiden's cold, so I'm pretty miserable. It's the first time I've been sick since before I was pregnant, so I'm really kind of pathetic. Oh well. I sure hope Mike enjoys his day, and all his future Father's Days! :)

First Cold :(
Three months on the button, and Aiden has his first cold. I knew it was only a matter of time when his babysitter told me her other two kids were stuffy, and last night it hit full-force. He woke up twice during the night (after nearly 3 weeks sleeping through the night) and was pretty miserable both times. The good news is that there's no fever, just congestion and discomfort. It's very sad to see him this way--he's confused because he doesn't know what's wrong! Hopefully it will pass in a few days and we'll have our good-natured boy back!
A side note: CONGRATULATIONS to my long-time friend Emily, who found out last night she & her husband will welcome a GIRL in November! I can't wait to meet Miss Lydia! :)

Three Months Old
And just when the heck did this happen?! Wasn't I just posting yesterday that he was three WEEKS old?! They're not kidding when they say it goes fast. We've been enjoying every second, though. As you can see, he's easily surpassed Mr. Bibbly in size--just since last month! :)
A few facts about our little buddy at 3 months:
--He's been sleeping through the night for nearly three straight weeks now, which Mike & I are extremely thankful for!
--Aiden is the happiest when I go in to see him before work; I didn't realize it was so exciting to get a diaper change! I usually place him back in his crib afterwards and let him chat with his Brutuses until Daddy comes in to feed him.
--Now that he's gotten good at holding his head up on his own, we've been able to use fun stuff like the Bumbo chair and Johnny Jump-Up; we also had to go shopping last night for more appropriate toys for him to stick in his mouth.
--This little guy's hair is getting more blond by the day, and it even has a bit of a wave to it.
--His most recent nicknames are Buddy-boy, Bunny/buggy, Monkey, Silly Guy, and on and on and on...
That's our update for now...we'll check in again at 4 months!

Johnny Jump-Up and See You Soon
Since it has been requested, I'm posting a short film of Aiden in his "Johnny Jump-Up." My nephew Gary used to have one of these, and it would crack me up every time I saw him in it, so of course it was one of the first things on my list when we registered for Aiden. He's a bit small for it, but I think he gets the general idea. :) NOTE: I'm sorry it's sideways! I tried uploading it several times and this is all it would do :(
In other news, today was Angie's last day at work before her maternity leave. Miss Rachel is due next Thursday, and WE CAN'T WAIT to meet her! On a purely selfish note, I'm a bit upset that Angie's leaving me alone at work for a few months, although I suppose it's only fair 'cause I did the same thing to her. I'm not lying when I say August can't come soon enough!

The Gift of Time
I'm not sure what you're supposed to receive as your second anniversary gift (I think the 1st anniversary is supposed to be paper), but Mike and I had a theme for our gifts this year--we each got each other a timepiece! I bought Mike a watch he'd had his eye on, and he gave me the Kit Cat Clock I'd always wanted--the one where the eyes and tail move! I can't wait until I have a kitchen to hang it in.
To my surprise, Mike didn't stop there--he also gave me the jewelry box that matches the frame our wedding photo is in. I'm a lucky girl with a thoughtful husband :)
Today, we're taking an in-town vacation; Mike's mom got us a hotel room for the evening, and we've got dinner reservations at Marcella's as well as (weather permitting) plans to hit the go-carts (or "Good Clean Fun" as Mike calls it). Should be good times, but it's the first time we'll not have Aiden with us overnight. He'll be in Mimi's good hands, however, so no worries!

Better Video
I completely forgot that my digital camera takes movies! This should be a bit better quality than the previously posted movie. Aiden's not really doing much here, but you can see that he can now reach the dangling items on his jungle-gym (and he seems quite shocked about that). In other news, I also was lucky enough to hear a full-fledged laugh tonight instead of his typical giggle, and that made me laugh, which in turn made him laugh harder. I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday night!
