A Quick Thought

I know I have an icon in my right margin declaring "No Political Posts" (that is NOT what this blog is for), but I'm going to break from that to make my first (and probably last) political statement. Most of you who know me know that I'm a life-long bleeding-heart liberal, and that I wear that label proudly (should any of you now feel the need to never speak to me again or remove my name from your blogroll...well, that's your issue, not mine), and that's one reason I typically don't comment on politics here. But last night's election results are simply too important not to recognize.

Forget for a moment that President-Elect Obama is a Democrat (if you must) and simply listen to a snippet of his acceptance speech:

"And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright - tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope."

THAT is the kind of world I want Aiden to grow up in. It may not happen, but I look forward to witnessing the attempt.

Please be gentle with comments--as I said, this has never been a politically-inclined blog, and I have no intention of ever taking it down that path. I more or less wanted to share my feelings as opposed to my ideology. Thanks!

  1. I am extremely excited to see how this change will affect our nation. Even with being born and raised as a republican I can’t deny, as most anyone can’t, that this will be an amazing 4 years that will hopefully show our children that anything is truly possible if you set your heart and mind to reaching your goals.
